Indonesian

Indonesian is the L.O.T.E language (Language Other Than English) that is taught to all students at Christies Beach Primary School.

Indonesian has been taught in Australian schools and universities since the 1950s. Today Australia is the largest provider outside of Indonesia itself of Indonesian language education

Indonesian, like English, is written using the Roman alphabet and as the sounds in the Indonesian language are consistent it is a relatively easy language for speakers of English to learn.

The learning program at Christies Beach Primary School focuses on;

  • *communicating in the Indonesian language through speaking, reading, listening and writing.
  • *understanding the sounds and grammar
  • *understanding about Indonesian culture (Way of Life)
